Free Festival Fringe programme announced!
Swanage Jazz Festival today announced its Free Festival Fringe programme taking place in pubs and clubs around Swanage. The details are posted below on the main website page.
The Fringe also includes attractions on the Open Stage which forms part of the Festival Village on Sandpit Field. This includes Jazz Yoga (free, but booking essential), Jazz DJs, several jazz groups and ‘Fingers and Toes’ interactive jazz for 5 – 10 year olds.
Swanage Boy to Swing Golf Club
Following the success of 2023’s Friday night Big Band concert at The Isle of Purbeck Golf Club, Swanage-born and bred Dylan Ross has been booked with his quintet to swing the club on the Festival’s opening night, Friday 12 July 2024. Dylan wowed the Swanage audience in 2023 with a fine Sunday morning set in the Sandpit Field marquee. His rich vocals and classic great American songbook repertoire will bring a touch of Sinatra and Tony Bennett to the venue, which boasts stunning views over Studland and Poole Harbour. Whether his repertoire includes the Miles Davis classic ‘Four’ will be revealed on the night. Dylan brings a superb band with him featuring saxist Tim Fulker, Phil Doyle on piano, the ubiquitous Joe Limburn on bass and Andy Chapman on drums. 8pm start.
This concert is separately ticketed to the main Festival. Only 70 tickets are available. Tickets cost £17.50 and are now on sale at www.swanagejazzfestival.co.uk/tickets Booking fees apply.
Swanage 2024 Secures Arts Council Funding
Swanage Jazz Festival has secured £16,225 funding from Arts Council England for its 2024 Festival and tickets will go on sale on Saturday 17 February.
Paul Kelly, Festival Chair said “We are delighted that Arts Council England has agreed to back the Festival. Our bid to the Arts Council was built on developing a programme to attract a new and younger audience through schools initiatives and also adding a second marquee on Sandpit Field for a new generation of Jazz groups. This will add a vibrant extra layer to this much-loved Festival.”
Details of the full main programme line-up of around 50 bands will be publicised shortly.
